Angie Brook Randolph Center to be launched

An international organization, the International Colloquium of Women’s Empowerment, Leadership Development, International Peace and Security   has announced that the organization will next year launch the Angie Brooks International Center on Women’s Empowerment, Leadership, Development, International Peace and Security in Liberia.

Addressing a news conference at the Ministry of Foreign, Gender and Development Minister Varbah Gayflor who is Co-Chairperson of the group in Liberia said the center will be based in Monrovia.

According to her the center will support the implementation of actions emerging from the Colloquium, through training to empower current and future women leaders, research, analysis and advocacy on women’s leadership.

Minister Gayflor said the Center will be established in honor of Angie Brooks Randolph, Liberia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nation and first Africa’s first woman president of the United Nations General Assembly.


Also speaking, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Olubanke King-Akerele said the Angie Brooks Randolph Center will conduct research and become a unique repository for existing research on women’s empowerment and leadership in the promotion of global security, international peace, conflict reduction and training and facilitation of workshops on women’s empowerment, leadership development, and promotion of international peace and security.

It will also serve as leadership development training for “grooming” of future leaders, women and men, with a new leadership amongst others.

 Minister Akerele said the center will conduct an annual Lecture series on women empowerment; leadership and promotion of international Peace and Security that would serve the following purposes raise funds for programs, Report on Women activities in the country amongst others.
